“You don’t write because you want to say something, you write because you have something to say.”

F. Scott Fitzgerald

In the summer of 2015 I married my best friend and husband Rob in the UK. It was a beautiful day surrounded by friends and family. We dreamed of a wedding in a forest, near water and green fields. We searched for a location that made our hearts beat a little faster until one day we found it. We were ecstatic, ready to throw the party of our lives. On meeting our Celebrant I thought in that moment, what an incredible vocation to witness two people in love, commit to one another, surrounded by people they hold dear. Here the inception of the want to become a Celebrant took its hold.

In the UK the laws around marriage are slightly different to here in Australia, the venue makes the ceremony legally binding and must be licensed. However in Australia you have complete freedom as it’s the Celebrant that solemnises the wedding. This gives you the luxury of autonomy as to where your ceremony takes place. Lucky you!

In 2019 I decided to follow my dream that I had often visualised and began the Celebrancy training qualification. I became a mother to my son Harry in February 2019 and I wanted to challenge myself to achieve my bucket list that was steadily growing. After rigorous exams around the legalities of marriage I achieved the qualification six months later.

There is no better feeling than experiencing happiness for others. Being a celebrant is a wonderful experience. Each couple has their own unique view on what love means, by witnessing this first hand through meeting them before the ceremony and the elation of the wedding vows my appreciation for love grows too. It’s a privilege to witness.

My honest observation of love is, with kindness we can save the world.

A heart felt thanks to all my friends, family and couples that have supported my dream of becoming a Celebrant. I really appreciate every well wish, every booking and word of encouragement. There have been so many friends that have offered help and guidance from designing my logo, to building my website. Each valued contribution, builds my dream of running my own successful business. A great business coach gave me the tip

“Don’t hide behind yourself in fear.”

Here’s to those first steps…
