Meet the expert and my friends

I gathered some industry experts to gain some insider tips to being one step ahead in your wedding prep.

Congratulations on your engagement, planning a wedding is such a fun time, it can be quite overwhelming once you begin the process with lots of external influences. Our industry experts are here with simple tips to keep you one step ahead with wedding prep so that you can keep the process hassle free.

Make up artist

Prue Roberts

“Always have a trial, never hire someone based on their social media platforms alone. Talk to your makeup artist over the phone or in person to make sure they can deliver on your vision of what you want to look like on your wedding day. If you don’t feel 100% confident keep looking. The best place to start is with your friends that have used a make up artist for their weddings or special events, word of mouth recommendations are the most reliable.”

Beauty therapist

Sam Reid

Start your skin care routine early, ensure you remove your make up properly each evening. Drink lots of water and invest in facials to even your skin tone. If you are taking a holiday before your wedding day be mindful of using an SPF to protect your skin.

Personal shopper and stylist

Joanne Ojinnaka

When choosing your wedding dress be open minded, try lots of different styles. Keep your venue and theme in mind. Enjoy every minute and go for the one you feel fabulous in.

Wedding celebrant

Jayne Burney

Meet with your celebrant prior to your wedding day. I’d recommend having a wedding rehearsal so you feel confident on your wedding day along with your wedding party. Remember you need to give a months notice for weddings in Australia. If there is any aspect of your ceremony that you don’t feel comfortable with give honest feed back to your celebrant, they want to make your wedding day perfect for you in every way.

Photography

Lucy Little

Recommendations are always best. When you meet your photographer prior to your wedding give them a list of key family members that you would like to capture on your day. It’s also helpful if you designate a wedding guest to liaise with the photographer to gather the relevant guests for group shots. It’s important you feel comfortable with your photographer as you spend a significant amount of time with them capturing those magic moments of your day.

    Florist

    Ivan If flowers

Think seasonally, what time of year are you getting married? This can effect the cost of your blooms. If you choose flowers that are available in the country you are getting married in it’s also better for the environment. If you have a vision of what your flowers should look like please share pictures with your florist.

    Hair stylist

    Beth Cartwright

Choose a hair style that makes you feel comfortable and confident and that reflects you. Always have a hair trial prior and invest in good products prior to keep your hair in good condition.
